I’ve been relying on Gemini’s OCR capabilities for a while, and it worked like a charm—until the past two days when every request just returns an “Output error.” It’s stopped processing any images, leaving me stuck and irritated. I can’t get the text I need, and the sudden failure feels like a huge step back in productivity.

I was surprised when I tested Gemini 3 Thinking against Gemini 3.1 Pro and 3 Flash for image captioning. After giving the 3.1 Pro model hints, it still missed the mark, while the zero‑shot Thinking model nailed the description perfectly. Seeing the side‑by‑side screenshot made the tool's surprising accuracy feel impressive and a bit exhilarating.
